This week I had the pleasure of sharing my story with Precious for the Her Story Rocks series about anxiety and entrepreneurship. It's really ironic how this article came out the same week I have been battling a tough week of entrepreneurship. The article was a reminder that I am ok, I can be ok and I will be ok no matter what. Fighting anxiety, depression or any other forms of mental illness isn't a walk in the park but it's not the end. One of my biggest struggles has always been the starting over phase after a setback with depression and anxiety. There were times I was a part of amazing projects, doing amazing work I love and I would have to stop because my depression or anxiety was affecting me too much. It was always a blow and it always made me feel like I would never been successful because I couldn't have a balanced and consistent life.
One of the things that people don't talk about is that mental illness can really steal your days away from you. Some days you are functionable and others you are exhausted, confused, spaced out and empty, you aren't able to push through, as someone building their own or even work in a business you love what are you to do?
I am still working on it, I am still working on me but most important I am still going.
I hope you are too! What's your journey been like? What's your biggest struggle?
